Transforming food waste into green
energy and products.
Local Generation Ltd, a sister company to Fenmarc Produce Ltd, plans to build a chain of Anaerobic digestion (AD) plants.
AD is really quite a simple process. Basically an AD plant extracts a biogas from waste food sources under controlled conditions and uses this gas to fire one or more engines to generate electricity and heat.
The great news is that we've now started building our first AD plant at Westry, Cambs. The plant will take up to 30,000 tonnes of food waste per annum, diverting it from landfill. This means a decrease in carbon emissions as well as positive PR for the companies that use the facility. It would be great to meet you if you have food waste (packaged or otherwise) and are looking for a much more environmentally friendly alternative to landfill.
The building and running of each of our AD plants will create new local jobs. We expect to provide a number of new and different employment opportunities, in technical, engineering and operations field.
AD will make a positive contribution to the Environment by reducing fossil-fuelled electricity generation, thereby reducing the CO2 being generated. AD will also reduce local landfill and therefore reduce the release of potent greenhouse gases from landfill sites. We’ll capture the gas in our system and use it to deliver great local green benefits instead! Every load that feeds the plant is a load diverted from landfill.
