At the industry awards ceremony in London on the 17th February, we were proud to see our exclusive variety Rudolph Potatoes, named a Finalist at the Grower of the Year Awards 2011 in the “Best New Variety” category.
The category looks specifically at product attributes including taste, pest/disease resistance, weather tolerance, retail/consumer appeal, ease of cultivation and potential to extend the season, many of which Rudolph has excelled in.
With a vibrant red skin and contrasting snowy white flesh, Rudolph is visually striking in its appearance. It holds a naturally sweet flavour, with a smooth and creamy texture.
The potato also displays robust agronomic qualities. It has demonstrated exceptional blight and common scab resistance, as well as resistance to internal defects and good yield performance, producing even sized tubers.
The Grower of the Year Awards is run by Horticulture Week and Grower in association with Asda, the Horticultural Trades Association and the National Farmers' Union and look to celebrate achievements made in UK production horticulture.
