On the 4th November 2011 All Saints Church of England Primary School (based in Wimbledon) were presented with an environmentally friendly Marmax Junior Buddy Bench (as seen below) to congratulate them on growing the heaviest crop of Rudolph potatoes.
Now in its sixth year, the programme has become bigger than ever with over 16,000 schools taking part. We are very pleased that over 3,000 schools in the South East took it upon themselves to grow our delicious red potato variety, enjoying Rudolph potatoes outside of the festive season.
Weighing in at 5200g, All Saints Primary took first place in the regional variety competition with a large yield of Rudolph.
"Visiting a number of schools during the growing season, we have seen great enthusiasm from both staff and pupils for growing their own vegetables. Being part of the Grow your Own project has been a great experience, we have loved interacting with the children and staff alike", said Marketing Co-ordinator Gemma Davis. "Company mascot Potato Pete has been particularly pleased with this year's results!"
After the success of this year's project we are looking forward to the delights that 2012's project has to offer.
